10 Low Waste And Sustainable (Mostly) Vancouver Businesses You'll Want For Your Next Event.

This post is all about sharing the love. We were part of a Media event as part of the Cascadia Wedding show happening Sunday, November 3rd.

This is Canada’s only sustainably focused wedding show featuring vendors with strong low waste initiatives, we couldn't be more happy to be a part of this event showcasing Elate Cosmetics. We will have a booth and will be doing the makeup and hair for the fashion show. We’d love to see you there! The link for tickets will be posted below.

This is the fun part, sharing the love! We met some pretty amazing people who all care about the earth and are straight-up awesome humans. Naturally, we want to share these amazing people with you!

You don’t have to be planning a wedding to support and enjoy these businesses. If you’re hosting an office event, shower, birthday, we would highly suggest contacting these people first.

1. Planning and Design

Natasha and her team are passionate about planning a great event along with supporting Mother Earth.  Her mindset shifted after planning and constructing over 600 swag bags for a massive conference, she quickly realized all the waste associated with this swag which was very likely going to end up in the garbage and knew something had to change.

Natasha and her team are producing the second Cacasdia Wedding show, bringing like-minded vendors together under one roof for the Eco-conscious Bride To Be and their guests.

2. Photography

We know how important it is to book a photographer you jive with, not only jive with in person as well as with their work. Farawayland photographers did a lovely job of capturing the moments of the evening.

3. Catering + Produce

This was an AMAZING meal by Chef Tae Young and Kitchin Collective. This is a low-waste food collaboration with Food Stash Foundation. If you want to host a low-waste meal for your people, we absolutely recommend supporting these businesses.

Kitchn Collective

Chef Tae Young makes meals with heart that bring people together with his own Korean roots. Meals vary according to the produce available by Food Stash, we absolutely love this concept.

Who is Food Stash Foundation you ask? Food Stash rescues surplus food directly from suppliers and redirecting it into households. This is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2016.

 4. Florals

For a mindful floral option, contact Bloomier. This is a subscription delivery service within West and North Vancouver, maybe with enough demand, delivery can grow throughout Vancouver. We immediately connected with Kamila, she is the face behind this company, we love her open-hearted, deep thought and care she put into her work.  Whether you want to send flowers to yourself, as a special gift, this is a business we can really get behind.

8. Makeup Artists and Collections

Jac and I are definitely going to toot our own horn here. We were working with Elate Cosmetics for this event.  If this is the first time you’ve heard about Elate, Elate is about 75% waste-free, offers a refill option for a bulk of the products, all vegan and uses ethically sourced minerals throughout the line.

9. Calligraphy

You’ll notice in the images, white pumpkins with names and the menu written on them. This gorgeous work was done by Julie. For name cards, wedding invitations or menu’s on white pumpkins, we loved her work.

10. Venue

The Garden Strathcona was the perfect venue to host this event. Florals by Bloomier really kicked up the ambiance along with the decor and calligraphy by Julie.  The upper level is available for workshops and events. The lower level of this East Vancouver Cafe is always bustling East Van locals and guests.
