I believe that we already know that beauty is more than skin-deep. The word beauty can mean something different for each of us. Eating a variety of fresh, whole, unprocessed foods is an easy way to ensure you're getting the nutrients you need to feel great.
When I'm working with a makeup client, we often begin by talking about foods that benefit skin health. I'd never expected my Makeup career and Holistic Nutrition schooling to go hand in hand, but if you think about it; health, wellness, and beauty work in union.
I don't think we need to tie ourselves in knots about eating a perfect diet; there's no such thing! Everybody is different; let's face it, life is meant to be enjoyed! And we should be able to indulge in comfort food every once in a while! I can assure you my diet is not perfect even though people assume it is because I'm a Holistic Nutritionist.
There are many pieces to the puzzle of health, wellness and beauty.
Ask yourself these questions:
How is your state of mind? How's your self-talk?
Are you participating in your community?
Are you engaging in physical activity you enjoy on a regular basis?
Are you feeding and nourishing your body with high quality, whole, fresh foods?
Are you making time for play/fun?
Are you happy with the beauty and personal care products you use?
Are you answering no to any of these questions? If so, why and what do you need to do to change it?
There is no quick fix when it comes to health and wellness, it's a lifestyle, a journey and I can assure you it will change as you do; we take steps to live our best as a preventative approach to our health. If I can reduce my chances of illness by checking off and addressing those questions above, I'll go for it!
It's getting your glow from the inside out, don't like to cook? Don't know how? Ask us about resources to learn how to eat for inner glow. If you could wave a magic wand when it comes to your lifestyle and food you eat, what would the solution look like for you? I bet it's out there for you!
Here's a head start
- Avoid processed foods and added sugars
- When filling your plate with food think the 80/20 rule. 80% veggies like roasted veg over greens and avocado with 20% protein like beans, fish or good quality meat.
- Carry snacks with you to avoid impulse buys. A little dark chocolate and raw nuts are easy and delicious or sliced apple with nut butter and cinnamon.
